Introducing Conversation Practice Questions in Labs

Two women smiling and chatting on a green sofa, one in a black dress and the other in a white blouse. Bright window background. Cozy mood.

I have a small site update for you all. The Listening Lab has been updated to include conversation practice questions for every lesson! If you are working on a lesson with a tutor (or a friend), you can try asking or answering these questions out loud with them. If you are working alone, you can try answering the questions out loud to yourself or write your answers in the lesson discussion and either I or another learner will respond with feedback.

The new conversation practice questions are based on each unique lesson. The questions feature lesson-specific vocabulary to help you get an even deeper understanding of all new vocabulary learned in each lesson. Each lesson will include approximately five conversation questions, with the number varying depending on the lesson’s length.

Here is an example from a recently released, intermediate lesson called "The Negotiation".

Lesson vocabulary:

Intensive, overtime, in the cards, negotiate

Conversation practice:

1. Have you ever had to negotiate your pay?

2. Are you good at negotiating?

3. Have you ever taken an intensive course before?

4. What is something that is "not in the cards" for you right now?

5. Have you ever had to work overtime at your job?

Currently, the conversation questions are only available in Listening Labs, but the Reading Labs will be updated with conversation questions soon so stay tuned!

I'm looking forward to seeing your written responses in the lesson discussions or, for my private students, hearing your responses during class. Until then, keep on practicing!
